Bloomberg: ‘Last year it was St Tropez, before it was Amalfi. This year’s it’s Greece’

Greece is the most popular destination for travelers this summer, Henley Vazquez, co-founder of travel agency Fora, told Bloomberg.

“Last summer it was Saint-Tropez, the summer before that was the Amalfi Coast,” she said, referring to the famous French and Italian resorts, respectively. “People are booking Greece left, right and center now.”

“And it’s no secret why,” Bloomberg writes: “Visitors flock to the country for its pristine beaches, the iconic blue-and-white Cycladic towns, ancient historical sights and, of course, that always-fresh culinary scene.”

Due to the high demand, airlines have been forced to change their schedules, resulting in 28.2 million seats on international flights to Greece this summer, a record number, the agency reports.

Markets like the US and UK are showing momentum even amid global economic uncertainty.

Both Delta Air Lines and American Airlines are expanding capacity to Athens, while adjusting their forecasts for the year as a whole, expecting lower demand than previously forecast.

Bloomberg, in association with Fora, recommends six hotels in Greece to its readers, qualifying them as “stunning.” They are: Cape Sounio, Four Seasons Mykonos, Andronis Luxury Suites on Santorini, Beach House on Antiparos, Parilio on Paros, and Avali on Corfu.
