TV show: The Enduring Appeal of Commissioner Ricciardi – A series ‘not like all the others’ -pics n video

The third season of ‘Il commissario Ricciardi’ concludes by confirming the solidity of the Rai 1 fiction. The episodes broadcast in November recorded very substantial ratings: the series reached 3.6 million viewers with a share exceeding 22% on one of the strongest evenings, maintaining a stable average around 3.2 million on the others.

Numbers that indicate a loyal audience and a television product capable of beating the competition despite a short format of only four episodes. The most evident data is its resilience: week after week, Ricciardi remained one of the main choices for prime time, confirming its place among the most recognizable and beloved fictions of RAI. Will there be a new season? Here are the previews.

From a narrative point of view, this third season has represented a significant turning point. The protagonist, usually closed in his pain and the weight of the ‘fact’, has shown a more human and vulnerable side. Love for Enrica guided much of the plot, marking a new emotional path much appreciated by the audience. At the same time, the series has kept its characteristic atmospheres intact: 1930s Naples, crossed by the fascist regime, the tension between legality and power, the ghosts that return to demand justice.

Around the commissioner continues to move an increasingly close-knit ensemble cast, Maione, Modo, Nelide, Livia, Bianca, Bambinella, which helps to build a recognizable and deep narrative world, balanced between drama and affection. The finale of this third season leaves more than one door open. Ricciardi’s sentimental developments, the intertwined destinies of secondary characters, and the increasingly dark historical context offer material for a new cycle of episodes.

This impression is reinforced by the position of the producers, who in recent presentations have defined Ricciardi as a series ‘not like all the others’ and ‘capable of opening gaps where other fictions do not dare’. The director of Rai Fiction Maria Pia Ammirati spoke of the third season as an ‘ambitious and successful’ goal, emphasizing that when a series reaches such narrative maturity and such public favor, it is natural to think that there could be more.

A statement that, without being a formal confirmation, sounds like a clear signal of willingness to continue. Gabriella Buontempo, Clemart producer, also hinted that the creative machine has not stopped: she recalled the ‘great teamwork’, speaking of the series as a project that still has much to give, and highlighted how Ricciardi has also conquered the international market (sold in over 70 countries), a detail that often weighs on the decision to prolong a television franchise.

Added to this is the strength of the literary saga from which the fiction is drawn: the novels and stories of Maurizio de Giovanni still provide several plots, emotional moments, and cases to adapt. In light of the excellent ratings, production quality, and constant public interest, the hypothesis of a fourth season appears concrete: the series still has room to grow and further explore the human and professional dimension of the Cilento commissioner. / il mattino
